Speech Research is a Croatian scientific conference with international participation which allows the presentation of new scientific research and knowledge in the field of phonetics. Phonetic sciences are interdisciplinary by nature, so the conference provides an opportunity to gather experts and researchers from different disciplines. Beside general phonetic topics, conference usually have one main topic.
International collaboration and interdisciplinary approach make this conference important for advances in phonetics, but also for Croatian science in general. The first conference took place in 1984 (under the name Speech communications), and since the 2nd conference in 1995, the Speech Research conference is organized triennially. The official languages are Croatian and English.
